Polaris Observatory: An Instrument to Realize Global Elimination of Viral Hepatitis

Polaris Observatory, created in 2014 by the Center for Disease Analysis (CDA) Foundation, is the largest and most trusted resource of global viral hepatitis disease burden data and decision-making analytics. The Polaris team collaborates with stakeholders from 150+ countries/territories to analyze available data, and to report prevalence of liver disease, incidence, vaccination coverage and treatment rate of chronic hepatitis B and C.

Applying the analytical tools created and made available by Polaris, individual countries are enabled to perform mathematical modeling to forecast health outcomes and economics, which provides the critical basis for developing national plans to combat the public health burden. The vast data and tools together serve as an instrument for country leaderships to realize their own ambition to control viral hepatitis.

In addition, the Polaris team provides assistance for individual countries to implement their plans to identify and treat affected populations. As a result, 1.6 billion individuals around the world received free screening of hepatitis B and hepatitis C, and 70-75 million received treatment. Polaris Observatory continues to be the authoritative source for current treatment landscape and progress towards elimination of hepatitis B and C globally by 2030.
