Professor Quarraisha, the first holder of the Chair, was the leading principal investigator for recent PURPOSE-1 study, which unprecedently, demonstrated prevention of HIV can be absolute by twice yearly injection of Lenacapavir. Their leadership in saving lives through clinical investigations and global health advocacy were recognized by numerous awards including the 2024 Lasker Public Service Award.

The endowed Training Program will provide opportunities to build capacity among medical and science Fellows from developing countries. It is hoped that the gift will support your continuous impact in addressing current and future endemic or pandemic challenges.
